Privacy Policy

This page explains what happens to personal data in two separate contexts: the HideReveal desktop app, and this website (hidereveal.eu). They work very differently, so they're covered separately below.

Who is responsible for this website

The controller for hidereveal.eu is Piotr Sobótka, a sole proprietorship registered in Poland (CEIDG). Full company and contact details are on the Legal notice page.

The desktop app: your data never leaves your computer

HideReveal, the desktop application, processes the files you choose to anonymize entirely on your own machine. It does not upload your Excel, Word, PowerPoint or text files, or the sensitive values inside them, to any HideReveal server — there isn't one for this purpose. The dictionary that maps your original values to tokens is stored locally in a database file on your computer (see the app's documentation for the exact location). None of this is affected by anything described below, which concerns only this website.

Cookies and analytics on this website (Google Analytics 4)

This website can use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how visitors use it — which pages get read, roughly how people arrive here, whether the download links get clicked. No analytics cookie is set, and no data is sent to Google, until you actively click "Accept" on the cookie banner shown on your first visit. If you click "Decline" (or ignore the banner), analytics stays off. You can change your mind at any time using the small "Cookie settings" link shown in the corner of every page — withdrawing consent is exactly as easy as giving it, and takes effect immediately for anything going forward.

If you do consent, GA4 collects a pseudonymous identifier (a random ID stored in a cookie in your browser), the pages you visit on this site, an approximate location derived from your IP address, your device and browser type, and which site referred you here. It does not collect your name, email address, or anything related to the content of files you anonymize with the app — the website and the app are unrelated in this regard.

The legal basis for this processing is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). The data is processed by Google Ireland Limited, with Google LLC (USA) acting as a sub-processor; Google relies on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and, where applicable, Standard Contractual Clauses as the legal basis for transferring this data to the US. By default, GA4 retains this data for 2 months before automatically deleting it (this window can be extended up to 14 months in the analytics configuration; aggregated reporting is not affected by this limit).

This site does not use any advertising cookies, cross-site tracking pixels, or third-party marketing tags beyond the analytics described above.

Your rights under GDPR

Regarding any personal data this website processes about you (i.e. the analytics data above, if you consented to it), you have the right to request access to, rectification or erasure of your data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — in Poland, the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO), or the equivalent authority in your own country. To exercise any of these rights, or with any question about this policy, contact ….

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes — for example if a new tool or service is added to the website — this page will be updated and the "Last updated" date above will reflect it.
